More on Dell and Vista

On the Online backup post video, Dell has a tagline at the top:
Dell recommends Windows Vista®  Home Premium.”

This matches my advice on Vista upgrade here.

Yet they still sell lots of systems with WinXP as the only option. Like the Inspiron laptops deal for $499. XP is still more cost effective. But careful if you plan to upgrade the system – any system from any vendor – to Vista later. If its not an option, it may not be fully supported by that hardware. Ask before you buy.

Dell has also introduced Linux Desktops. They’ve been selling servers running Linux for years – most web sites, including this one, run on Linux.
