Digg It?

Just what is Social News? What are those “Digg” and “del.icio.us”  icons? Whats with “rss” and the little orange icon?

For the less geeky amongst us who are just getting the idea of what a blog is or how to use web mail, the whole world of “Web 2.0” may be invisible. Online gaming with strangers, news feeds, online discussion groups, forums, and social news sites await.  Assuming of course you have a lot of time to spare.

Did you know there are sites where you can choose key words and subjects of interst and have your own custom built “newspaper” served up, for free? Or be notified automatically of key news? Very time saving, once you get the idea.

A related service is social news sites where the community nominates articles and votes on them, pushing top ranked pieces onto the screens of millions of people. Most newspapers only dream of such coverage.
