Free web site

Just read about Weebly, a way to have a free web site with drag and drop design. No coding – but there is that option for custom stuff. You can go to their web site and play with the design tool in Demo mode to see if it suits your needs and ability.  Choose a theme, drag page elements in place and paste in your content. It’s fun just to experiment.

Add more Pages, add a blog, add Google AdSense ads – all just drag and drop.

For about $40/year, you can easily add a domain (with Register.com) and email accounts (via Gmail). A Pro package is also available that adds larger file size limits, protected pages, an audio player and more. Price was not apparent.

This is not suitable for a business site as there is no eCommerce, list management, etc. But for a personal, artist or musicians site, it looks like a great way to get a web presence for free. Hosting and design included.

The Support page outlines some of the other features and limitations.

For myself, blogging on WordPress suits my needs these days (used to have a site with over 100 pages) but you may need more static pages, like photo albums, music samples, etc. That’s where Weebly might help.
