GRIN = Great Images in NASA   🙂

NASA has posted hundreds of hi-res scanned images of “historical” interest in various resolutions.  “This collection is intended for the media, publishers, and the general public looking for high-quality photographs.”

Update:
Don’t forget the Astronomy Picture of the Day (the archives are amazing)

and the NASA MODIS site of Earth from space images

NASA also has the NASA Image of the day. This page has links to various other NASA image archives.

Update 2:
The Hubble site has a large gallery also. Note the Wallpaper section where you can choose a picture, then a size you like. Further, they have videos and images of the Hubble itself.
